Machine description:
The arrangement is developed for
casting of aluminium alloys by a low pressure casting procedure. The
machine can be described as a stable and robust, self-supporting construction.
Besides, the base plate and the upper plate (both stiff) are connected
with 4 hard-chromium-plated columns. The columns take up the internal
charges and permit the operation with a furnace pressure up to max.
5 [bar]. The max. closing pressure of the machine amounts to 620 [kN]
with 140 [bar] hydraulic system pressure.
With modern control elements and
regulation elements the whole casting process is operated, the metal
temperature regulation and the cooling are steered by the system,
are regulated, controlled and analyzed.
This guarantees the possibility for reproduction of all technological
parameters.
All process sequences are visualised by the built-in monitor.
The especially developed casting system and cooling system with freely
programmable parameters guarantees a dynamic filling of the mould
and a directed solidification of the cast, which increases product
quality as well as productivity.
Intended use:
The machine is able to operate with
metal forms with and without metal cores, in metal forms with sandy
cores or in sandy forms and gypsum forms.
Components of the machine:
The upper plate:
The closing cylinder is mounted on the upper machine plate. The opening
and closing speed of the mould is adjustable by proportional valves.
The movable plate:
This plate is connected with the closing cylinder. On the plate the
ejector mechanism as well as two guiding columns are mounted.
The plate carries the upper form, which is half of the mould, as such
it is responsible for opening and closing the mould. With its four
generously dimensioned sliding bearings which are supported by two
additional guiding columns the upper plate guarantees a sure and exact
guidance while opening and closing the mould.
The intermediate plate:
This is the lower mould plate. By two hydraulic cylinders the plate
could be bolted to or separated from the machine furnace.
The furnace lid:
The furnace lid closes and seals the machine furnace. The stand pipe
is mounted inside.
The stand pipe adaptation of the lid is a special construction which
permits the application of ceramic-, grey iron- and steel pipes. Hence,
the cleaning of as well as exchanging the stand pipe are especially
easy.
The machine furnace:
The furnace is heated electrically. The steel coat is a welded construction
according to the regulations for pressure vessels. The coat is able
to take up a crucible of the company Hindenlang, type BU500. The furnace
is easy to handle.
The base plate:
IIn this plate the guidance for the furnace, its transport device
and the closing cylinder of the intermediate plate are mounted.
The hydraulic system:
The machine is equipped with its own hydraulic aggregate. The nominal
working pressure is 140 [bar], the hydraulic fluid is optionally mineral
oil or a mixture of water and glycol.
The machine control:
The standard is a memory-programmable control (PLC) with a human-
machine-communication part (screen and control elements).
All important data, process parameters and process sequences are charted
on the screen. Alerts and disturbances are also controlled with the
graphic operating surface. The control admits the possibility to document
all parameters with a printer directly attached to the machine.
The pneumatic system:
The furnace pressure occurs with pneumatic elements proportionally
and with accompanying sensors.
The system allows a free-determinable furnace pressure during the
casting process with real time speeds while filling the mould.
Process analysis, control and regulation of the furnace pressure guarantee
the ability for reproduction of the casting process during the casting
of a load from the first up to the last part.
The cooling system:
The cooling system is able to work with air, water or an air-water-emulsion
as a coolant. The standard type of the cooling system consists of
six cooling circuits for air cooling.
The specific feature of the cooling is its regulation: every cooling
circuit is freely programmable in matters of time, flow and temperature,
also any identity lines (flow time diagrammes) are possible. Furthermore
the cooling guarantees the highest ability for reproduction of the
cooling process (solidification) for all cast parts with its control
unit.
The regulation of the metal temperature:
The furnace is normally equipped with two thermocouples (melt and
heating).
The metal temperature in the furnace is held by a two point regulation
in the PLC in narrow confines .
